In Outlook 2007 (with Business Contact Manager, although this part is not currently enabled), I can receive but can't send emails.  How do I fix this?  If I need Outlook Connector, which of the many available Connector files do I need to download?  How can I find out what my current SMPT server is?  I use XP Professional, Office small business 2007.

Hi, Crystal. Reconfigure your account by removing it and then adding it back. Refer to the information in this link: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/hotmail/hotmail-outlook-faq for the settigns when you add it back. Outlook Connection information is also listed there.

I did all that you suggested and got "cannot connect to SMTP e-mail server.  Contact ISP."  The SMPT server listed in your link is smpt.live.com .  I've been using Hotmail for a long time and am trying to link Outlook to my current Homail connection (rather than the other way around).  My Hotmail smpt works.   Please advise.

Can you double-check that what you have listed for the server is smtp.live.com ? I see that you kept on typing SMPT so there might be an error in what you typed in Outloook, so checking it will be good.

I did indeed make a typing error.  I fixed it and got the following error message when I tried to send:  "Ox800ccc80 None of the authentification methods supported by this client are supported by your server."  I did download the certificates in the link you provided.  What others do I need?  Also, the dialogue box wants to know which type of encripted connection to use for the smtp server:  none, SSL, TLS or Auto.  Which one should I enter?.

You can use SSL. If that still does not work, try the Outlook Connector. All the information you'll need for the setup on Outlook is in that link I provided.

The first time I clicked on Outlook Connector in Outlook, I couldn't access any of the buttons except options and accounts, neither of which had any helpful info.  I got a message that OC is not correctly installed.  I clicked on the downloaded connector file and ran it again.  After that I could access add email account but not about   connector or learn about oc.  I went back to your link and saw directions to download the Outlook Connector installer.  However, there is no link to that file.  Where do I get it?

Kindly go to this link to download Outlook Connector:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/help/microsoft-office-outlook-hotmail-connector-overview-HA010222518.aspx
You'll just need to click the Download Now button.

Hope this helps. Since you've contacted MSN Solution Center where we handle MSN butterfly concerns, if you still have issues with Outlook Connector, kindly post your question at http://answers.microsoft.com

Thanks!

Answers is where I started 1 week ago.  I think I have to choose a category on the Answers home page.  Is Settings the appropriate category?

FYI, I downloaded the Connector file again, and this time the wizard was in there.  But I still can't send messages from Outlook.  At any rate, thanks for helping me straighten out the initial problems.

This is a continuation of a previously posted question handled by those who deal with butterfly concerns.  They helped me correct some settings, download and install Connector but have referred me back to this forum for further help.  I still cannot send emails via Outlook (though I can from Hotmail--MSN is my ISP).  I use Outlook 2007 (with Business Manager, although this part is not enabled) with XP Professional, Office small business 2007.  Please advise.
