On my HD backup, in the db folder, wcsailor subfolder, there are 240 MB of files starting with "stm".

Hi wcsailor,

 

We cannot determine the size of mail folder and 240 MB is a smaller size and it could be possible the emails in this folder are from server side (Folders on MSN). I am sorry to say that the emails are lost during transition.

Where on my computer were the "files on your computer" stored?

If they WERE lost from my hard drive during the transfer, they should still be on my backup, since I made the backup before the present files were "lost."

So again, where are the "files on your computer" normally stored?

Hi wcsailor,

 

The email files will be stored under the following location: %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\MSN.

 

I understand that the files should have been on your HD backup folder but the size you mentioned for DB folder is to less.

 

We did our best to find the emails if they are on your computer. Unfortunately the emails are lost during transition.

If the "folders on your computer" were on my backup, what would they be named? Could I just copy them to my present-day db folder?

To put it another way, what does MSN name the "folders on your computer" when they are put on my computer?

Are they deleted when they are moved to "folders on MSN"?

Hi wcsailor,

 

If the emails were on your backup it will still be in the same location DB or DB30 but you won’t be able to read or open it as it will be in coded language.

 

Yes the emails may have been deleted and lost when you tried moving emails to Folders on MSN as the sync did not complete and you got error.

What would happen if I deleted the present db folder from my HD and replaced it with the db folder from my backup?
