Please advise me the monthly charges for using MSN software.

I called MSN Custome Service and was advised that it was $10 per annum.

A subsequent call said that it was $10 per month.

Can you tell me the precise amount, and for how long it will be observed?

One other inquiry: if I do not purchase the MSN service, does that mean that I can ONLY sign in through Verizon?

Your timely reponse to these questions will be appreciated.

We appreciate that you are looking at continuing with your MSN subscription. Since you are currently on the Verizon with MSN Transition plan, we have promotional packages available to you. The following lists the differences between the subscriptions:

OPTION 1 - MSN Premium Economy Pack -$9.95/year: Includes MSN Explorer software or butterfly only. This subscription does NOT include 24X7 assisted technical support through phone, chat or email, nor the security services like McAfee AntiVirus Plus – MSN Edition and Webroot SpySweeper. For any technical related issues you can post your concerns on our forum site at http://answers.msn.com.

OPTION 2 - MSN Premium Internet Software - $59.95/year: This includes MSN Explorer software or butterfly, 24/7 technical support through phone, chat or email email or forums at http://answers.msn.com, security services (McAfee AntiVirus Plus – MSN Edition and Webroot Spy Sweeper for MSN).

You may also opt to sign up through the MSN PROMO pop-up that would appear when you sign in to MSN detailing the plans available for you.

If it does not show up, you may instead contact our MSN Sales team at 1-866-205-6768 so they can sign you up.

Hours of Operation: Monday - Friday 5:00am - 9:00pm Pacific Time (UTC-8)

Saturday 5:00am - 3:00pm Pacific Time (UTC-8)

Sunday - closed

If you do not sign up for any of the abovementioned plans, your email address will remain as is and will be accessible via hotmail.com. These are the features that will be changed:

You will not be able to use the MSN software(butterfly) for viewing mail. E-mails in the “Folders on your computer” section will not appear when you go to the Hotmail web site. You can check this by signing in to the MSN software and clicking the Mail & More icon at the top. Aside from this, here are the other changes:

    1. Termination of free McAfee Anti-virus and Firewall program/ Webroot Anti-Spyware program subscription.
    2. Banner ads will be enabled in the Hotmail.com and My.MSN.com web sites.
    3. Your Safe Address limit will decreasefrom 500 to 250. This helps avoid e-mail messages from valid contacts landing in the Junk e-mail folder
    4. Account expiration. You need to log in to Hotmail regularly to keep your account active. Accounts are deactivated if you have not logged in at least once every 270 days. Once an account becomes inactive, all email messages and contacts information are deleted from the server and cannot be retrieved even if the account is reactivated.
    5. Automatic Email Forwarding is disabled for domains not hosted by Microsoft (ex. Yahoo, Gmail)

Feel free to reply to this post for any questions and feedback.

Thanks!
