MSN Mail not working correctly can't send, receive, or delete there but can in hotmail; no errors

I have been having problems using MSN mail for the past few weeks.  Everyday it seems to behave differently.  Currently, the issues are: can't send or receive emails, can't delete emails, duplicate emails are created (6 or more of each email under folders on my computer which adds up to a lot of emails, however, today duplicates were coming into my inbox in msn mail from past emails), sometimes there will be a (1) under mail and more but there will be no actual new message.  There are no error messages.  Under status and support, everything indicates it is running normally even though it is not.  Note: I am able to use hotmail just fine.

History of what I have done to resolve the issue after reading through the forums endlessly:
*Hit F5 to see if it was a synchronization issue
*Refreshed the msn mail settings
*Renamed the .sdf files indicated to .old in the db30 folder
*Removed and added back my msn account numerous times
*Used AutoCare to diagnose/fix the problems
*Refreshed msn mail settings again
*In Member Center, downloaded MSN software again (did NOT do a clean uninstall/install, just downloaded to see if there were updates etc.)

With most of these attempts, often the MSN Mail would work properly for a few hours and other times it would be okay for a day, but then it would return to working improperly (won't delete, making duplicates, can't send/receive, crashing).

Other misc. info:  Had the windows recovery virus on my computer a month ago but took care of it using various methods.  Everything has been working normally on my computer since that time except for MSN Mail and even the the MSN Mail worked fine for a week or two after everything was resolved.  However the past week and a half or so, it has been not working right.  Also, I did download the latest windows live messenger within the past few weeks (not sure if that would affect anything).

I understand that their was an outage with MSN and Hotmail this past week and am wondering if the above issues are all related to complications with that, or if they are just unique to my computer?

I have MSN Premium and the version is 10.20.0091.1100.  I have Windows Vista.

My questions:
Are all of these problems related just to my software or are they related to the recent outage issues?
Is there possibly a corrupt file in my MSN software that can be easily fixed on your end?
Why are there duplicate copies being made under various folders?
What do I need to do to resolve these issues to help MSN Mail work properly again?

Thank you for your time.

Greetings,

Thanks for using the MSN Solution Center Answers Forum.

Steps1: Take Backup of DB30 folder and save it to your desktop.

Note: Sign out from MSN then close the program before performing the steps below.

1. Click ‘Start’

2. In the Search box, type the following: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\MSN

3. Press the ENTER key.  (The MSN folder will open)

4. In the MSN folder, do the following:

a. Click ‘Organize’, ‘Folder and Search options’, then ‘View’

b. Put a dot on ‘Show hidden files and folders’

c. Uncheck the ‘Hide extensions for known file types’ and ‘Hide protected operating system files options’

d. Click ‘Apply’, then ‘OK’

The db30 folder will appear inside the MSN folder. (Copy DB30 folder and paste it to Desktop)

Step2: Then create a new windows profile by contacting Windows team at 1-866-234-6020.

By creating a new windows profile, does that mean I have to get a new email address?  Just wondering because the reason that I stayed with MSN was to keep my email address instead of going with Qwest.  I haven't had any problems with MSN over the past few years until the change of MSN breaking ties with Qwest.

It seems like the MSN Mail issues I have are quite common so I am hesitant to go through all of those steps without knowing it has worked for others.  Do these steps appear to clear up the issues over the long-run for others who have written in?

Lastly, on step 3, does that mean I should uninstall my current version first or do I just install the MSN software you indicated?

Thank you.

Greetings,

By creating new profile it does not mean to change your MSN email address. We are creating new profile on your windows to check if this is profile related issues.

On new profile, you won’t have any software installed to uninstall it. So I suggest you to try the above mentioned steps to fix this issue and let us know the outcome for further assistance.

Thanks!
