I do my banking with Bank of America I have been unable to do my online banking with MSN. I called Bank of America and they told me to use Internet Exployer and online banking will work. They told me that MSN has not up-graded their software to make online banking possible with Bank of America. I tried doing my online banking using Internet Exployer and it works. When is MSN going to upgrade their software?

Hi, Sophie --

I phoned Bank of America's tech support a few days ago and was told that there was, indeed, a problem.  Emails to them since then have been met with vague replies, including instructions that won't work because the problem isn't at the users' end.

This apparently is not just an issue with MSN Explorer (which may be detected on the BofA website as Internet Explorer 7; IE7  is supported by BofA's website).  There is a website that reports corporate websites having problems or outages and has logged literally hundreds of complaints from all over the country on this issue.

Different browsers may or may not work, depending on where in the country you are.  For instance, I (on the East Coast) can't sign in on BofA using my MSN Explorer 10 (this was never a problem before).  However, I  can sign in using IE8.  According to postings, users in other parts of the country can't sign in using IE8.  Some have also tried (at BofA's suggestion) installing IE9, Chrome, Firefox and other browsers, only to find that the problem persists on those as well.

BofA changed the "design" of its challenge question and passcode entry screens recently; that's when this seems to have started.

I hope they get this worked out soon.....and that it doesn't get worse!

Hello, Natasha --

This is from an email I received this morning from D. Zuzuarregui in BofA's Client Escalation Unit:

"We regret to hear you are experiencing difficulties accessing your accounts via Online Banking using Internet Explorer 7. Allow us to inform,  there is not a known issue with customers signing in to Internet Explorer 7 at this time."  (Emphasis mine)

There ISN'T???  Then what problem have we all been having???

UPDATE:  I just spoke by phone to a BofA tech support supervisor.  He apologized for the email message (above) that I received this morning; D. Zuzuuarregui is wrong, there is still an issue.

He also told me that although we may have been able to access their Online Banking website via MSN Explorer (and may be able to again, if they can get this issue with IE 7 corrected), the MSN Explorer browser is  not supported by their website (AOL's browser isn't supported, either).  A previous poster was correct about this.

Thanks again for the update.

Indeed, there seems to be an incompatibility problem with the update they had on their site. I do know that the techs here at MSN are looking into this. Hopefully, they'd be able to rectify or update the software in some ways. Internet Explorerserves as the backbone of MSN's browsing capability so it shares some of its settings.

I no longer can access my BoA account from MSN.  This is unacceptable.  I called and was transferred 4 times.  Finally a rep told me that you no longer support MSN Explorere and I needed to now use Google Chrome or another internet offering.  This is UNACCEPTABLE.  I have also tried the upgrade that you recommended in another post..that DID NOT WORK.  What is the problem?

[merged bears59's post into this one, read the information on the posts from page 1]

Also, you mentioned that you called and a rep told you that we no longer support MSN Explorer. Which department have you called, exactly? Or did you mean that you called Bank of America and they said that they no longer support MSN Explorer for accessing their site?
