Hi,

McAfee is a free software from MSN as long as you have the subscription active. Does McAfee has MSN logo when you open it? If so, follow the steps below:

Remove McAfee using Control Panel

  • Click Start then select Control Panel
  • Double click on Add/Remove Programs (XP) / Programs and Features (WinVista & 7)
  • Locate Mcafee on the list and follow the steps to uninstall the software
  • Restart pc if prompted

Run MCPR tool

  • Open IE and go to http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe
  • Click Run if prompted
  • Follow the instructions to run the tool
  • Restart pc if prompted

RESET INTERNET SETTINGS

  • Close MSN and all open windows

  • Windows XP: Click Start then select Run | Windows Vista/7: Press the windows key + R on the keyboard
  • Type inetcpl.cpl inside the Run box.
  • In the Internet Properties window, click on Advanced at the top
  • Click on Reset at the bottom part of the window.
  • On the small pop-up window, make sure that the box is checked then click on Reset again.

Reinstall McAfee

  • Open IE and go to membercenter.msn.com then sign in with your email and password.
  • At the bottom of the page click on Install McAfee then follow the steps on how to install the software

Let us know the results,

Paolo M.
