Since MSN seperated from Verizon I have had constent problems with my MSN Internet Connection.  I would be in the middle of a complicated survey, for example, when an error window opens stating that I am no longer connected to the Internet.  If I click on the cancel button in the error window, a second window usually opens with a line which state "Return to previous Window".  If I click that line, I am back either to where I was previously on the Internet or to my normal MSN home page.

If I check to Internet connections in the "Help & Settings" file, there is no problem.

What can be done to prevent receiving these error messages and ensuring that my MSN Internet service remains connected while I am using it?

Hi,

Provide us the following information to further assist you:

  1. Is this happening when you use Internet Explorer?
  2. What type of internet connection do you use? (Wireless, Hardwired DSL...)
  3. What was the exact error message you got when a window open?

We'll wait for your reply.

Good Morning Paolo M.

Here's the info you asked for:

1.  Yes

2.  DSL with a Westell Model 327W modem

3.  There are two messages:

First message:  This program cannot display the webpage.
                            Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
                            The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.

                             What you can try:
Check your Internet connection.  Try visiting another website to make sure you are
                            connected.
                            Retype the address
Go back to the previous page
                            More information.

Second message appears if I click on the "More Information" line:

                            Webpage has expired.

Most likely cause:  The local copy of this webpage is out of date and the website
requires that you download it again.  This I do not understand as I have no idea
what is being talked about here.   How can I download something that I never
                            downloaded in the first place?

                            Something to try:

Click on the refrest button on the toolbar to reload the page.  After refreshing,
you might need to navigate to the specific webpage again, or re-enter information.
Problems here is that my toolbar does not have a "Refresh Button" that I can see.

                            More information:

If you continue to have this problem, try the following:
                            1.  In Internet Explorer, click the Tools button, click Internet Options, and then click
                            the Advanced tab.
                            2.  Scroll down and clear the "Do not save encrypted pages to disk" option in the
                            Security section.

I have done this, and when I reach the "Do not save" line, it is all ready clear.  There
is no check mark in the box before the line.

Now here's where it gets very interesting.  If I click the "Home" icon on my tool line, I am right back to the MSN home page that appears when I first log in.  It comes up automatically as though I had been connected to the Internet the whole time.

I have also checked with Verizon on this, and they can find no problem.

Does this info help?

Jerry
