I have always clicked on the MSN butterfly and been connected to my home MSN page.  Today when I click on it I get no response at all.  Qwest stopped MSN on 7/1/11 but I continued with getting MSN and my subscription is current for another year.  How can I get back to just clicking on the MSN icon to be immediately connected to my homepage?

Since sending my last question another problem has occurred.  The MSN butterfly has been replaced by a picture of a page now with MSN below it.  What is happening to make these changes and how do I get the butterfly back and renew the capability to get to my MSN homepage with clicking on it?

Hello,

The icon you have descibed seems like the installation did not complete. Could you please un-install the application and reinstall it. The page icon indicates the program has been corrupted and so the MSN Explorer is unable to function. The could have happened during the de-branding of the MSN Explorer software from Qwest to MSN. Its an easy fix, below are the steps.

Shubha,

If I uninstall and reinstall am I going to loose all of my saved files on my MSN and my favorite folders?  Does MSN automatically reinstall on my computer without a disc and will I be required to get a new email address and password?

Thanks,
Frustrated user

Hello,

Before we could uninstall and reinstall the MSN software, we need to take a back-up of all the emails stored on 'Folders on Computer' and also the favorites folder.

You do not require a new email address and password to reinstall the MSN software, with the old email address and password you can install the MSN software.

Please find the steps to take back-up of favorites on the MSN software:

For Win XP: C:\documents and settings\user\application data\MSN6

For win vista and win 7 c:\users\<USER NAME>\appdata\roaming\MSN6

(Copy the folder which says Msn6 and save it to desktop without fail.)

Once you have taken backup of your emails and favorites you can uninstall and reinstall the MSN software.

Please reply for further assistance

Thanks!
