MSN frequently says "Not Responding"

MSN frequently stops responding.  Here's a copy of the details.  I'm running Vista on a Dell laptop with 3 gigs of memory.  I have MSN premimum's version of McAfee running for security.


Any help greatly appreciated!!

Hi TexasDave,

 

Troubleshooting steps to perform clean Uninstallation:

 

a. Back up and restore archived e-mail if saved any on your computer.

1.  Sign in to MSN.

2.  Select Help & Settings, and then click Settings.

3.  Click Change your E-mail Settings.

4.  Click Import or Export e-mail, copy e-mail, or import contacts.

5.  Click Copy E-mail, and then click next.

6.  Select Save your MSN e-mail stored on this computer.

7.  The Save As dialog box will show the default path of C:\Documents and Settings\ user name \My documents. Do not change this path. Click next, and then click done. 

 

b. Remove Msn software through Add\Remove programs.

1.  Exit all programs that are running.

2.  Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

3.  In Control Panel, click Programs and Features.

4.  Click Add or Remove Programs.

5.  Select MSN Explorer, click Uninstall.

6.  Click MSN Internet Software, MSN, or MSN Internet Access, and then click Uninstall.

7.  If you are prompted, confirm that you want to remove the program, and then click OK.

 

c. Click Start > In Search Programs and files window type C:\Program Files and click Ok and then right click on MSN and Delete it.

1.  Open Internet Explorer

2.  Click Safety, and then click Delete Browsing History.

3.  In Delete Browsing History area, click Delete.

 

d. Restart the computer

 

 How to Reinstall Msn:

1. Start Microsoft Internet Explorer.

2. Visit http://membercenter.msn.com/download.aspx.

3. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the Installation.

Thank you Husna!

Just got it reinstalled.  Was difficult to download the MSN software after I had deleted it!!

Internet Explorer would NOT allow me to download it.  Google Chrome would - worked just fine.  Who knows why??

I'll let you know if it recurs, but for now it is just fine (and faster!)
