Was Qwest-MSN, in May went with $9.95 MSN package
Problem long existing for couple of years, worse lately. Some can be overcome by watching taskmanager when this happens sign off and back on many times until it works. Sign on from desktop to homepage, when click on MSN e-mail at times can be half an hour before I can do anything in e-mail. I have been kicked off 4 or 5 times in row in short order from sign in before it will stay on MSN giving msn.exe as reason.
Op Sy XP (5.01.2600) all updates
Internet Explorer 8.00.6001.18702
MSN 10.20.0091.1100
MSN control panel add/remove MSN 10.20.0611.0
Computer : Dell 530
Processor: Intel Duel Core CPU E2200@ 2.20Ghz
3.24 GB RAM
msn.exe 10.20.0091.1100
Running Norton 360 antivirus
Running Advanced System Care for clean up, problem happening before, got to help, but it doesn't.
msn.exe going rogue using lot of CPU, sometimes 100%. Reason kicked off of MSN many times per:
AppName msn.exe AppVer 10.20.91.1100 ModName: Seal.dll ModVer: 10.20.91.1100 Offset: 0006ccdf
I have been with MSN since going online in 1999, MSN DSL since 2006. I like MSN, but I'm really more than just tired of all this, takes all the fun out of being online!!

Dear Moderator,

Sorry miscommuicated the last time on time.

If you are there tonight after 8:00 PM Pacific time you can take over my computer, which may be the best and easiest thing. You can delete my e-mails on "saved on my computer" or whatever it takes to make my MSN work.

Thanks,

Tired

Hi

For your convenience, I prepared a detailed set of steps that usually fixes the issue you raised. Since it looks like MSN crashes when accessing e-mail, there are chances that the files handling e-mail synchronization got damaged.

Follow the steps below to fix this. Do not hesitate to reply to the post if the issue persists

Thanks!
Natasha

Hi Moderator/Natasha C.

Still not on to navigating this site. I thought you hadn't listed instructions, but "signed in" and found your note and instructions.

On "double Click" on file "db30" I found only file "db" so did it on that file.

Where you say I should find 2 files with ".sdf" ending.
I found as you said:

"username-msn-com.sdf"             and
"username-msn-com_JMF.sdf"

I didn't change because didn't know impact of no "db30", just "db"
and I wasn't clear if I was to add new files with similiar names after I added ".old" to the end of those files???????? Or exactly what I was to do after that????

Also before I just found yesterday where "moderator" had answered that I had not seen before maybe problem with e-mails "saved on my computer". I had been doing that. Lot of trouble clearing "trash" and deleteing "sent e-mails" for those "saved on my computer". I have finally cleared "trash" and down to 857 on "sent e-mails". That seems to have little impact. I have switched that to save sent e-mails on MSN instead of "saved on my computer".

That MSN IE or MSN e-mail going "Not Responding". If I sign in, off, sign in enough times sometimes it works better. On that most of time it is a "close" at bottom and not a sign out by "X" top right because it will not response. When it does it seems it takes a long time to  sign off or "syncranize" (sp?). Some days are better than others?? This is a long time problem, but worse lately I think. I really hate to give up MSN after 12 years but I just can't go on much longer with all this.

Please advise.

Thank you,

Tired

Dear Moderator/ Nastasha C.

Thank you very much!!

All the years I had phone call support they never solved my problem, you have.

I wish someone had told me years ago that the "save on my computer" option doesn't play well with others. I finally got "zeroed out" all "saved on computer" "sent e-mails" and "trash" and switched to "save on MSN". That made some difference.

I finally followed your instructions on adding ".old" at end of those 2 ".sdf" files. I see now that in the e-mail 'restoring' mode it creates new ones. It stayed in that mode for about an hour. It switch my setting back to "save on my computer", and added years and thousands of old e-mails to my "saved on computer" "trash". Have deleted and changed all of that back to "zeroed out" and saving e-mails on MSN.
Most of trouble with msn.exe using cpu to point of locking up, or the "not responding" problem has been eliminated. It also had developed to state most "media player" type of e-mails would not open. All of your above instructions have eliminated those problems. It also signs off MSN and "Synchronizes" very quickly.

I hated to leave MSN as I have been Qwest-MSN dialup since 1999, and Qwest-MSN DSL since 2006; but I was far more than ready to do it and would have if not for you.

You have given me back my MSN!! Thank you very much!!

Tired (not so tired now!)
