Hi James K,

Please make these changes in MSN Explorer.
  • Sign in to MSN
  • Click on Help & Settings at the top left corner
  • Click on Settings from the drop down menu.
  • Click on Change your email settings.
  • Under Email Settings option, Click on Writing emails.
  • Select Text Formatting in the Menu listing.
  • Check the box for Please use plain text for compatibility.
  • Then click on Save changes

    You should be now able to Disable Emoticons.

    Thanks Nitesh, that worked.  Still can't open e-mail attachments after installing new MSN version 10.5 and stock updates on dashboard don't work.  Do you know when this problem will be fixed?

    Hi,

    Please find the steps below to fix attachment issue

    1. Right click on MSN shortcut on the desktop go to properties
    2. Under Start in column you will find "C:\Program Files\MSN\MSNCoreFiles" have it removed and type %USERPROFILE% click apply and then ok
    3. Sign in to MSN and open attachments .

    In regards with dashboard issue we do not have an estimated time of resolution, but be rest assure we are trying our best to fix the problem as soon as possible.

    I have tried that, however then my email texts also contain "gibberish"

    Without changing, The most annoying problem is when i'm typing these emotions take over certain letters and characters as well as when i receive email, the text within the body has similar emotions that take over key "words" etc.
