MSN Dial-up SIgn in window pops up and disrupts running programs

When running programs, typically gaming software, the game will be stopped (not closed, just paused), then minimized, and the MSN sign window is displayed on the desktop. The sign in window must then be closed, the program restored and continued.
This scenario is repeated over and over, with the MSN sign in halting the game, minimizing it, and requiring the sign in window to be closed again and again. the time between occuranses ins anywhere between 5 -25 minutes.

How can the sign in window be halted from doing this?

This also occurs when no programs are running.

Sampath,

Thanks for the response, sorry for not getting back right away.

1. What is the Operating System? Widows XP, Service PK 3 (5.01.2600)

2. What is the version of MSN Software? MSN Client (10.00.0079.18702)

3. Where there any changes made on your computer? ????? In regars to what?  This has been happening for quite awhile, with numerious MS, MS Security Essential updates,  Ccleaner, Defraggler, Malwarebytes runs. I not sure when this started, what specifi change occured, but I believe from doing MS auto updates wass the "Change that brought this about, not sure anymore.

4. What is the version of Internet explorer? IE 8 (8.00.6001.18702)

All (bolded) info derived from same "window" contained within MSN Explorer Sign as instructed:
"Ctrl, Shift and F7 keys at the same time. The Status and Support screen will open".

The instructions provided to disable the MSN Explorer Sign in:

"Things to try:

To disable to MSN dial up pop-up screen, please follow the below given instructions:

1. Open Internet Explorer

2. On the Tools menu, click Internet options

3. Click the Connections tab

4. Under Dial-up and Virtual Private Network settings, click Never dial a connection

5. Click Apply, and then click ok. "

Will this not permenently prevent me from gaining internet access??

I must use the MSN Explorer sign to access and maintain an internet connection.....If while connected (via the MSN Explorer Sign In and MSN Explorer browser), I open and use IE browser, I can not close my MSN Explorer with out losing my internet connection, ie. my IE browser is no longer connected.

"Some" program (?) is constantly "forcing" my MSN Epxlorer (?) to open the MSN SIgn In window....

I hope this makes sense.

Any further help would be appreciated.

If any further information is required, I will try to provide as bset as I can.

Once again, thanks

Hi Optimus prime,

As you’re on a dial up connection, yes the above steps will not help to connect to the internet, do apologies for the inconvenience.

To remove the MSN sign in pop up, we need to delete all the manual connections that is been created on the computer. Please find the below steps:

1. Open Internet Explorer.

2. On the Tools menu, click Internet options

3. Click the Connections tab.

4. Under Dial-up and Virtual Private Network settings, In box you will see the name of the connection that has been used to get connect to the internet like ( MSN Test, Dial up connection1 etc) delete all the manual connection and leave only the connection which says MSN.

5. Click Apply, and then click ok.

Please reply for further assistance

Thanks!

Greetings Sampath,

Where to begin.
I followed these instructions (from your previous post};

"1. Open Internet Explorer.

2. On theTools menu, click Internet options

3. Click theConnections tab.

4. UnderDial-up and Virtual Private Network settings, In box you will see the name of the connection that has been used to get connect to the internet like (MSN Test, Dial up connection1 etc) delete all the manual connection and leave only the connection which says MSN.

5. ClickApply, and then click ok."

Only problem, when deleting "extra" connection settings and deleting from available list of options, the apply button never became "highlighted" for use. I deleted (removed) all but one connection option ( the one that was highlighted, when first opening Dial-up and Virtual Private Network settings window). Unfotunately, more than one setting had MSN as part of the connection choices, but one was highlighted (shaded) and that is the one that I did not remove from the list. But again, after removing the other 2 options, the apply button was not an available option (text within button shaded grey, not black) so this was not an option.

Anyway, I went and reread your previous suggestion in regards to the "never dial connection" and noticed that it referenced IE explorer. As you can see from my response, I mistook that for performing that on my MSN explorer (which is my connection to the web). So I went into IE explorer and performed those steps (never dial a connection) and have not had the issue come up yet (approx. 1 week).

I think that was the answer, and I just didn't read it correctly. Sorry for wasting your time further.

Thanks for all the help on this issue. You nailed it earlier , but I just wasn't paying very close attention to your response.

Thanks

Now if I can figure out why images in my browsers (both MSN & IE) are pixalated (VERY low rez.). Not all images, but the kind of pictures (jpg's?) displayed on msn, and forums (facebook etc.) hint hint.

I have done some  Bing/google searches and have not come up with a solution (read a lot of suggestions, but none have worked). Photos within my pictures folder are fine, but even images downloaded and saved into "my picture" folders are very low resolution.

Greetings Sampath,

I use several different programs for viewing saved pictures, including; Windows picture and fax viewer (primary), Olympus Master 2 (ver. 2.01) (secondary), and perform modifications/adjustments with; Olympus Master 2 (primary), Cannon ZoomBrowser XE, Cannon Digital Photo Professional, Arcsoft Photo Studio, and Registax 5, depending on task.

When viewing saved photos with any of these programs there are no issues, everything looks good.

The issue is when browsing (MSN & IE browsers), images (photos/avatars/adverts/etc.) are blurry i.e., as if out of focus.  This issue has occurred randomly, but is now persistent since downloading a massive (305 Mb) window service pack 3 update.

The only other recent "add-on" was roboform, which was prior to the windows update (and no issues were noted prior to the update).

I will look into "resetting" my browser as indicated by the link you provided.

As usual, Thanks for your efforts and time, I DO appreciate it (I just hope you are not some 10 year old with a Blackberry schooling me). ;-}

It would seem that while browsing  (both IE & MSN browsers) and off-clicking on each individual image/photo, a menu option is available to "View Original Image", clicking on this choice corrects (sharpens) the image by "updating the page". Only the image selected is corrected.  Apparently "something" (program?) is altering the image.
