Remember your secret question and answer? It will take seven steps to reset your password using your secret question and answer.

 

1.     From the Start menu, open Internet Explorer window, and then visit http://account.live.com

 

2.     Click Forgot your password. If you don’t see this option then first click Sign in with a different name and then click Forgot your password

 

3.     Type the e-mail address of the Windows Live ID account for which you want to reset the password.

 

4.     Type the characters that you see in the box in the picture or click the speaker icon and type the numbers that you hear and click Continue. Click Use my location information and secret answer to verify my identity

 

5.     Enter the appropriate location, answer your question, and then click Continue.

 

6.     Type your new password two times, and then click Continue.

 

 

Remember  your "alternate" e-mail address? It will take seven steps to reset your password using your alternate e-mail address.

 

1.     From the Start menu, open Internet Explorer window, and then visit http://account.live.com

 

2.     Click Forgot your password. If you don’t see this option then first click Sign in with a different name and then click Forgot your password

 

3.     Type the e-mail address of the Windows Live ID account for which you want to reset the password.

 

4.     Type the characters that you see in the box in the picture or click the speaker icon and type the numbers that you hear and click Continue.

 

5.     Click Send password reset questions to me in e-mail, click Alternate e-mail, then Continue, and finally click OK.

 

6.     When you receive the e-mail message from Microsoft Customer Support, follow the questions to reset your password.
