Use one of the following methods to locate the software:
Method One: Look on the desktop or in the notification area (the lower right corner of your taskbar) for an icon that represents firewall or antivirus software. Move the pointer over each icon in the notification area to read the tool tips that describe whether an icon represents firewall or antivirus software. If you locate the software, go to Step 2.
Method Two: Look in your Control Panel to determine whether firewall or antivirus software is installed on your computer.
Click Start, click Settings, then click Control Panel.
Double-click Add/Remove Programs. Note: If your operating system is Microsoft Windows XP and you did not see Add/Remove Programs, click Switch to Classic view on the left side of the Control Panel screen.
Locate your firewall or antivirus software in the Installed Programs list. Note: In Windows Vista you cannot disable software from the Programs and Features window.
Right-click the icon for your firewall or antivirus software, then click Disable. If Disable is not shown, click Exit.
Try to sign in to MSN again.
Once you’ve signed in, use one of the following methods to turn on the firewall or antivirus software:
Method One: Right-click the firewall or antivirus software icon in the taskbar, then click Enable. If you do not see Enable as an option, contact your firewall or antivirus software manufacturer for information about how to turn on the software.
Method Two: If the option to turn the firewall or antivirus software is not available when you right-click the icon, restart your computer.
