Follow the steps below to add a delay so that the modem waits approximately 6 seconds for interference caused by a voice mail alert tone or dial tone stuttering to clear before the line is accessed.
MSN 10.x or 9.x with Connection Center
1. Start MSN but do not sign in.
2. Click Connection Settings, then click Modify.
3. On the Setup screen, verify the area code and number you’ll be connecting from.
4. On the Dialing Options screen, look at the check box in front of the Dial this to disable call waiting option.
I. If the Dial this to disable call waiting check box is already selected:
a. Note the call waiting code that is being used. For many telephone systems, this is *70.
b. In the call code list, select Custom.
c. Type the call waiting disable code that you noted in Step One, then type 3 commas after. For example, if the original disable code is *70, type *70,,,
II. If the Dial this to disable call waiting check box is not already selected:
a. Select the Dial this to disable call waiting check box.
b. In the call code list, select Custom.
c. In the Other box, type 3 commas ,,,
5. Click Next until you reach the Acceptance screen, select the I agree to the terms and conditions check box, then click Accept.
MSN 10.x or 9.x without Connection Center
1. Start MSN, but do not sign in.
2. On the Sign In screen, click Connection Settings.
3. Select Modify a location. Select a location, then click Next, now select MSN Dial-up.
4. In the I dial a code to turn off call waiting box:
I. If the box is empty, enter 3 commas ,,,
II. If the box is not empty, enter 3 commas after the call waiting code. For example, if the call waiting code is *70, the box will contain *70,,, when you have finished.
5. Click Next until the Modify a Location Wizard is finished. Click Finish.
