Thank you for the error information. A program can freeze due to errors or damages in its file components. For the MSN butterfly, there are two types.

If the crash happens when you sign in/out or when you access the e-mail and since you mentioned that it only happens to your email address, follow these steps:

The first part is to rename the synchronization file (SDF). Please go to this link and follow the steps: http://answers.msn.com/thread.aspx?threadid=942abfe7-577a-4fa0-8eef-a7d88a7e5677

The last part is to refresh the local data storage:

1. Start MSN, but do not sign in. When the sign-in screen appears, press CTRL+SHIFT+F9.

Important You should receive a warning about removing the e-mail information. If you instead receive a warning about removing the account information, you may have pressed CTRL+SHIFT+F11 instead of CTRL+SHIFT+F9. If you receive the account information warning, do not confirm this action when you are prompted.

2. When you are prompted to confirm your action, click Yes , and then click Yes again.

3. Restart MSN, and then sign in.

4. Sign in to MSN and wait for about 15-20 minutes for the MSN software to synchronize your email and account settings before checking if the issue gets resolved.

If the crash happens elsewhere, please provide us with details on how it happens. The error window also usually contains a link that you can click to get the technical information. You can copy it over and tell us about it.

If you don’t see one please follow these steps:

For Windows 7 computers:

a. Go to Start then Control Panel and open Administrative tools. If you do not see this, take a look at the upper right side and on the View by box select either small or large icons so we'll see the Administrative Tools.

b. Open Event Viewer.

c. Expand Windows Logs on the left and select Application.

d. Click on Filter Current Log at the right hand side of the page.

e. On the Filter Log window check Error and on the Event ID box type 1000 and then click on Ok

f. On the results, double click the latest application error and it will give you the faulting module of the internal error.

Make sure that the Faulting Application says MSN.exe as you may see several application error that is not associated with MSN Crash.

We'll be glad to look into this and provide you with advanced steps if renaming the sdf files did not resolve your issue.

Thanks!
