Thank you for following the steps to back up these email messages even though it was not successful due to the large amount we may have. Not to worry though since we have another way of backing them up.
Please follow these steps:
For Windows XP computers:
1. Sign out of the MSN software.
2. Click on the Start button then click Run. Type %USERPROFILE% and click OK. A new window should appear.
3. Set the computer to display hidden files and folders by following the steps below.
a. Click on Tools at the top of the window then click on Folder Options.
b. In the Folder Options window, click on the View tab.
c. In the Advanced Settings box, look for Hidden Files and Folders and click on Show hidden files and folders just below it.
d. Uncheck Hide extensions for known file types.
e. Uncheck Hide protected operating system files (Recommended).
f. Click Yes to confirm.
g. Click Ok to close the Folder Options box.
4. Double-click the Local Settings folder.
5. Double-click the Application data folder.
6. Double-click the Microsoft folder.
7. Right-click the MSN folder and click Copy.
8. Close all open windows.
9. Right-click on any blank space in the Desktop and click Paste.
10. Wait until the MSN folder gets copied completely to the Desktop.
For Windows Vista/7 computers:
1. Sign out of the MSN software.
2. Click on the Start button then click Run. Type %USERPROFILE% and click OK. A new window should appear.
3. Set the computer to display hidden files and folders by following the steps below.
a. Click on Tools at the top of the window then click on Folder Options.
b. In the Folder Options window, click on the View tab.
c. In the Advanced Settings box, look for Hidden Files and Folders and click on Show hidden files and folders just below it.

f. Click Yes to confirm.

9. Right-click on any blank space in the Desktop and click Paste.
10. Wait until the MSN folder gets copied completely to the Desktop.
NOTE: To restore the email messages, just copy the MSN folder on the Desktop back to its original location
