MSN runs great when first opening, lasts for a short while, then runs very slow.
Latest post: Satjot, Monday, November 26, 2012 9:03 PM

A good share of the time, when I first start MSN Premium, it will run long enough to open 2 or 3 sessions, then will  come up and say that it has quit running, and then will close.  Once I do get everything open and running again, it seems ok for a shor while, then when I try to refresh a window or go to another site, it will take an extremely long time, sometimes will not open at all, just blank screen.  I have a Desktop with Windows 7, Quad Core, 8 GB ram, 64 Bit, and it does this constantly.  I have another Desktop with Vista, Quade Core and 3 GB ram, 32 Bit, and it does the exact same thing.  I have a laptop with Windows 7, Quad Core, 4 GB ram, 32 Bit, and it does exactly the same thing.  I doubt if it's a PC/Laptop issue, or a window issue, the setups are not all exactly the same, I have debugged them and run cleanup and defrag, all without anything changing how MSN works.  I can run any other program on any of my computers, and never have an issue like this, until I run MSN and Messenger, then everything else also seems to slow down.  I use Norton on 2 of my computers and McAfee on the other 1, still they are acting the same.  I would pretty much have to say that it has to do only with MSN.  Also, on my laptop, I use it on all types of WiFi networks across the country, still no difference, no matter what the internet speed is.  At home I have a 14.2 GB internet speed from Qwest,, which I just upgraded several months ago from a 7.2 GB.  What can I do to get it to work the way it is supposed?  Facebook is the worst, after it's been open for a while.

Hi,Sorry to hear that you have to experience this on several of your computers. There might be a possibility that the MSN Software is not compatible with the plug-ins and components of a particular website you went to especially if a particular site updates its layout and enhancement that MSN cannot cope up. Can you list down some of the websites were you experience a non-response from MSN? Also, make sure that the Internet Explorer 32-bit on your 64-bit computer and all other computers (...that is not 64-bit) is working fine.Paolo M.

The number one problem web site is Face Book.  It will run fine for 10 or 15 minutes, then it starts slowing down and will eventually stop refreshing all together.  It works fine on all of my Internet Explorers and will work fine on Chrome and Safari, no prolem, it will refresh or go to a link almost faster than you can click on it, but not with MSN.  I have re-booted my Desktop and watched the Task Manager while I have worked all day.  And with 8 GB of RAM, the usage has never exceded 3.4 GB of usage and the CPU has never gone above 10% usage, even when trying to open any website through IE or MSN.  Even when I open a high usage program like Photoshop, it still doesn't excede 3.7 GB of RAM or 15% of CPU.  There are a couple of others that I use and have no problem with IE or other internet programs, only with MSN.  I cannot believe that it is a problem with anything other than MSN or it's settings.  Also, I don't have problems with other programs shutting down right after starting, like I do with MSN.  I have gone through a complete tune up on my Desktop, and it hasn't changed anything for MSN, but it sure has helped on other programs.I have also seen several other postings of similar nature, and a lot of things on blogs on the internet with similar problems with MSN.  In the past I have loved MSN and the way it works, keeps my Favorites to anywhere I login to MSN Premium, the way the e-mail system has worked, etc.  But, I will not continue to use it if I can't get this straightened out.

Hi,The resources for your computer is pretty much fine. With a lot of updates and browsing enhancement of facebook it became not compatible with MSN Explorer anymore at some point, that is why MSN acted that way. Also, other browsers especially Internet Explorer have gone through lots of updates as well were MSN was not. So, for the meantime, you can use IE to access heavy flashed websites while we improve MSN Explorer's performance.Paolo M.

So, what I am to understand is that I am paying for an old, archaic program, the only part of which that I really have advantage of is keeping my old .msn e-mail address.  Everything else works much better on free programs like IE, Chrome, Safari, etc.  Other than keeping an e-mail address, which most people change almost like their clothes, I don't see muich advantage to MSN Explorer "Premium".  Unfortunately, I just renewed it for another year, but it's doubtful that I will again next year, without a lot of improvements.I have stayed loyal to Microsoft for a lot of years, but I'll tell you, Apple looks more appealing as time goes on, especially since I do so much with graphics, like Photoshop.

Sorry you have to feel that way, as much as we would like to provide you with a much faster resolution for this, we would love to hear this feedback from you if you go to http://feedback.msn.com. But for the meantime while we improve our product together with its other features you can use Internet Explorer that serves as the backbone for MSN as well. Thanks,Paolo M.

My frustrations just keep piling up!  MSN drastically needs improvement.  I don't know how much longer that I want to keep paying MSN for an application that does not work in todays world.  Why should I keep paying for my MSN, when even you tell me to use Interet Explorer instead.I just found another web site that does not work with MSN.  Delta.com has recently updated their web site, and while I can access it and am able to do some of the searches and links on it, it will not allow me to print my pass by clicking on the Print button, and will not even go to the next screen when I click ont that button.  I does work perfectly in IE8, but MSN it getting worse and worse with the new updated web sites.Again, I am paying MSN yearly fees for an antiquated program that does not function.  If it wasn't for my longstanding e-mail address, I would gladly cancel my subcription to MSN and would tell eveyone that I know that has an MSN account to do so as well.  I have told others to not subscribe to it until it can get updated and work properly, and I will continue to do so until I am fully satisfied that it is.Instead of using IE, I am now more apt to use Chrome, since it works better and has less problems with it, and the interface is cleaner and easier to use now.  Instead of a solution, you basically told me not to use your program!  I really have enjoyed MSN in the past, and don't like the interface of Bing as much, and with MSN not working on more and more links, I just don't know where to turn at this point. As long as I only go to my home page, or to my e-mail account, everything is fine, it's when I open and leave open something like Facebook, G+, etc., that it slows down my system to a crawl, and with the other websites not interacting well with MSN, it just tells me that Microsoft is really getting behind in utilizing the current web system. Please, give me somekind of idea what's happening and when, or you will soon loose me and anyone else that I can tell.
