Cancelling My MSN Account
Latest post: Shubha, Monday, June 27, 2011 11:36 PM
I have been looking at the various posting and responses on how to cancel my MSN account.Couple of questions came into mind before I cancel my account.1.  Once I cancel my MSN account, I realize that my e-mail converts to a hotmail account. Can I be able to set up a new hotmail account using a different user name prior to cancelling my msn account ?2.  Two of the response that I noticed which is confusing to me is moving my e-mail folders.  The two response states to "Make sure to copy the e-mails back to the server folders, and the other response is the same to move e-mail to server folders for your account and allow them to sync to the server".  The posting doesn't tell explain how to move the e-mail folders and  how to sync them to the server.  How do I moved my folders to the server and how do I sync them to the server?3.  I also found a third party website called trueswitch.com, where they will transfer your e-mail folders and e-mail name , and notify the contacts.  Is trueswitch.com a reliable website, in case If I can't move my e-mail folders to the server?

Hi Ronk,

1. Yes, once you cancel your MSN subscription, it becomes a free MSN/hotmail id and you can login through http://www.hotmail.com/ .

2. If you have saved your emails on 'Folders on computer' using the MSN premium software, you need to move your emails from 'Folders on computer' to 'Folders on MSN’.

Note: Once you move your emails it will take time to synchronize on the server end.

3 True switch is a third party application used to transfer data from one email account to other email account of different domains and ISP.

Account cancellations are currently handled via phone support, we are working on introducing features to this website that will allow us to handle such queries on the site in future. Once you call our phone support number please select the option cancel an account.

Please reply for further assistance

Thanks!

Is thiswebsite reliable to use, in case if I can't move my e-mail folders on my computer to folders on MSN?

Hi RonK,

In other to move your emails from 'Folders on computer to 'Folders on MSN'. We need to validate the following information:

1. What is the Operating System?

2. What is the version of MSN Software?

3. How do you access your emails using the MSN butterfly or the Internet explorer through http://www.hotmail.com/ ?

Things to try:

If you access your emails using the MSN software then you need to check in the left pane if you have saved any emails under 'Folders on Computer’. If you have emails stored under 'Folders on computer' then you need to move your emails to 'Folders on MSN'.

If you access your emails through http://www.hotmail.com/ then all your emails would stored on the server end.

Please find the link to find the version of MSN software

Here are the answers from the previous posting.1. What is the Operating System? O/S Win 7

2. What is the version of MSN Software? V.103. How do you access your emails using the MSN butterfly or the Internet explorer through http://www.hotmail.com/ ? Both.In regards to moving the e-mail folders you stated see below:If you access your emails using the MSN software then you need to check in the left pane if you have saved any emails under 'Folders on Computer’. If you have emails stored under 'Folders on computer' then you need to move your emails to 'Folders on MSN'.  This statement doesn't make sense at all on "check in the left pane" where do I check in the left pane?  Please be more specific.Furthermore I also mention about Trueswitch.com at the beginning with no satisfy answers at all. I am asking one more time is this website reliable and safe to use in moving my msn mail and contacts to hotmail?  I also asked at the beginning, once I cancel my account, my e-mail will convertto a hotmail account. Can I be able to set up a new hotmail account using a different user name prior to cancelling my msn account ?I still have not heardabout a response regarding if I could setup a new hotmail account prior to cancelling my msn account?

Hello,In response to where to "check in the left pane" - The name of the folder is "Folders on my Computer", if you had any messages you saved to you computer then this is the folder it will be under.True switch is a 3rd party service and I cannot speak to the reliability of their service, I know a lot of customers have used it to migrate their emails. Its like a mail forwarding service.Yes, you can setup a new Hotmail accounts whenever you need to. The new Hotmail account and your old account will have no connection and will not be a problem.Hope this clarifies. Thanks,Shubha
