My MSN Application is running slow
Latest post: tpegmc, Saturday, August 20, 2011 4:39 PM
Hi Sampath,I have optimized my IE per the instructions from the Windows Live Help. No major issues were found in these process steps. I am still experiencing the long delays when using the icons across the top of the MSN webpage. I have discovered that if I use the Hotmail access from my MSN home webpage I can instantly access my email, send and recieve messages with no delays and switch between my email folders with out waiting 2-3 minutes each time. Not sure what the difference is between these two email applications, but Hotmail works and MSN email works with lon delays when doing any task. Tom

Hi Husna,It will be nice to work with you. I just performed the remove MSN process and the reinstall MSN process with limited success. When I tried to remove the MSN application in the Add/Remove Programs application I was able to unclicj the MSN Explorer and clicked Next and then Finish to complete this task. It then asked me to restart my computer which I did. I then proceeded to Add/ Remove Application again to Change or Remove Programs  for the MSN applications. the only application after the restart was MSN Tools, which I left installed. I still had the MSN butterfly and when I went to the MSN Members Center to download the MSN Explorer application it stated I already had the application only updated a few new add ons to the application. These did not improve the performance issue. I then decided to try the other remove program which was to click on Start and then Run I enter the following command: c:\program files\msn\msnCoreFiles\Setup\msnunin.exe This brought up an unistall program which started removing the application, but part way through a message appeared stating that the file was being used and could not delete it. I click to continue and the program finished. It did not state which file was being used. After this operation, the MSN butterfly had been removed and when I went back to the MSN Members Center this time it downloaded MSN Explorer. I completed this process of loading the application and then optimized IE per Sampath's instructions. I thenopen the MSN Application which still took some time to complete and I am still experiencing the long wait times between MY MSN homepage and Mail or the other tasks. So it did not make much difference. I am sure this is because I was not able to do a complete unistall as the one file was still in use. Any new suggestions i can try to that would allow me to do a complete unistall of the MSN application?Thank you in advance for your forthcoming  assistance.Tom

Hi Tom,

1: Please check with your anti-virus/firewall vendor as it might be blocking MSN software.

2: Low performance can also be a cause of low system resources.

Please check the Private Message area and reply back for further assistance.

Thanks

Hi Husna,I have checked by firewall and MSN is on my exception list. I am running Norton Online Utilities for my anti-virus protection and MSN is not being blocked. My performance issue has not changed to my knowledge. The only difference I have have expereinced is when I worked with an MSN technician to convert my account from Qwest/MSN to just MSN. Prior to the ten minute procedure to convert I had no major issues with using Qwest/MSN after the conversion procedure I started having the long time delays. I am available this Friday evening to work with you on this issue. I am available at 8:00 p.m. or later. How should we connect? I can supply you with my contact infomation via an email or you can contact me via my email at {removed email address}. I look forward to working with you this Friday.Kind regards,Tom
